What a wonderful week advocating in Juneau during the legislative fly-in and AASB Conference!!! A special shoutout to Akia Akerelrea (SCM) and Jack Alick (POJ), who proclaimed themselves as the world’s smallest bodyguards, for escorting me down. 🤣 Thank you for telling your stories and sharing why our schools and our KCA program are so important to our students and villages. You both were impressive and represented yourselves, our District, and our Region extremely well. Thank you! Thank you also to RSB Member Fred Beans for your advocacy, and to Superintendent Hargis and Assistant Suprintendent Vrvilo for the opportunity. The word is defintely out….our students are doing great things—especially these two!

Huge shoutout to Anchorage Senior Activity Center for partnering with us to expose students to us in our mission to develop students who are ready for the workplace. Select KCA seniors travel to ASAC every Thursday and work with elders, set up activities, and help ensure that facilities are ready for use. This new partnership is just getting started, and we can’t wait to see where it goes.
