Initiated from President Lyndon Baines Johnson’s War on Poverty State of the Union address in 1964Title I is in its 50th year

Purpose of Title IA Funding

“The purpose of this title is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency in challenging state academic standards and on state academic assessments.”
