📱🦊 IMPORTANT UPDATE: New Student Cell Phone Policy for the 2026–2027 School Year 🦊📱 Dear Nunam Iqua School families, The Lower Yukon School District will be implementing a new Regional School Board Student Cell Phone Policy beginning with the 2026–2027 school year. The goal of these updated expectations is to: ✅ Reduce disruptions to learning ✅ Increase student achievement ✅ Enhance school safety Student Expectations: 📵 LYSD recommends students leave cell phones at home. 📱 If a student brings a cell phone to school, it must be stored in a designated area during the school day. 🏫 Cell phones are not permitted in classrooms unless they are stored in the designated location. ☎️ If parents or guardians need to reach their child during the school day, please contact the school office. Likewise, students who need to contact home will do so through the office. 🌅 Students may use their cell phones before school and after school. Our staff will teach, model, and consistently reinforce these expectations to help create a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment for all students. Please take a few minutes to review the information in the attached slides so you and your student are familiar with these new expectations before school begins. Lower Yukon School District will be participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). This means that all enrolled Nunam Iqua School students will receive breakfast and lunch at school at NO CHARGE, regardless of household income. ✅ Free breakfast and lunch for every enrolled student ✅ No meal application is required ✅ No further action is needed from families Please take a few moments to read the attached letter for more information.
