PQS Boot Camp 2025
Day 8 Highlights!🥳
May 29, 2025
Kindergarteners started the day with a great KIKORI activity called "Touch Someone Who," where they connected by sharing answers to questions like "Who makes you happy? Who plays with you? Who helps you clean up or share?" They practiced spelling CVC words and continued building their early literacy skills through Lexia.
1st and 2nd graders started their day with fun KIKORI activities, including a lively Fist Bump Greeting and learning about Mt. Everest Day. They enjoyed read-aloud sessions in CKLA and explored the amazing world of insects by discussing the question, "Friend or Foe?" These engaging activities helped build their reading skills and curiosity as part of the ongoing PQS Boot Camp 2025.
3rd and 4th graders had one-on-one reading tests with Mr. Minard using mClass passages to assess their progress. Throughout PQS Boot Camp 2025, all students practiced reading skills— interventions to fluency and comprehension activities.
5th and 6th graders focused on spelling vocabulary words, mainly terms from the Periodic Table of Elements, as part of their CKLA Unit lesson. They practiced identifying element symbols and engaged in rapid word exercises to boost their reading fluency. To end the day, students enjoyed an exciting drone lesson, staying fully engaged and eager to learn.
7th and 8th graders had fun and stayed fully engaged during their Robotics and Drone sessions, showing great teamwork and curiosity. They also made impressive progress in reading comprehension by working on Maze/Cloze Passages for both fiction and non-fiction texts, strengthening their critical thinking and vocabulary skills.

PQS Boot Camp 2025
Day 7 Highlights!🥳
May 28, 2025
Kindergarteners enjoyed tracing letters while practicing the correct hand strokes and identifying each letter. They also had fun reading using Lexia, which helped reinforce their early literacy skills. Throughout the activities, they stayed engaged and eager to learn.
1st and 2nd graders focused on reading intervention, with their teacher calling students one by one for targeted support. Meanwhile, the other students continued learning independently using Lexia Core5, mClass Boost, and iReady. This combination ensured personalized instruction and ongoing practice for all learners.
In the KIKORI lesson celebrating International Burger Day, 3rd and 4th graders did an amazing job learning to create paragraphs using the HAMBURGER Method, which includes a topic sentence, supporting details, and a closing sentence. They also practiced their Oral Reading Fluency with a 1-minute timer, just like during their regular school days using mClass DIBELS.
5th and 6th graders had intensive reading passages with comprehension practice during their reading intervention to strengthen their understanding. Meanwhile, other students continued learning independently using Lexia Core5 and mClass Boost. Students stayed engaged with personalized instruction and technology-based practice.
7th and 8th graders practiced their maze reading activity as part of their independent activity, sharpening their reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. They also completed additional reading and comprehension assignments to reinforce their understanding.

PQS Boot Camp 2025
Day 6 Highlights!🥳
May 27, 2025
Kindergarteners did an amazing job spelling CVC words using the Clap, Snap, and Tap strategy, which helped them break down sounds and improve phonemic awareness. They continue building their reading skills by practicing the first steps with the support of Lexia.
1st and 2nd graders had fun with the KIKORI lesson today focused on Sunscreen Day. Students made their own sunshine and learned how their teachers and parents help them every day. Their CKLA lesson highlighted the power of experiential learning and the joy of discovery. Meanwhile, 2nd graders enjoyed an Insect Exploration activity.
3rd and 4th graders went outside today for their CKLA lesson on Natural Changes to the Environment. They observed how rocks, leaves, plants, and trees change due to weather conditions like rain, wind, and sunlight. This hands-on experience helped them understand the ongoing changes in nature around them.
5th and 6th graders conducted an experiment on combustion using balloons and matches to emphasize chemical changes. They observed how the reaction produced gas that caused the balloon to expand, illustrating changes in the state of matter from solid and liquid to gas.
7th and 8th graders learned how to find the meanings of new vocabulary words using a dictionary. They practiced by constructing meaningful sentences with the vocabulary words, enhancing both their understanding and usage.
