Dear Families, Staff, Coaches, Players and Community Members: We regret to inform you that the Bering Sea Basketball Tournament, scheduled to be held at Hooper Bay School January 21-24, 2026, has been canceled. The difficult decision was made due to the school’s backup generator not working and the city electric utilities not being fully reliable, along eith intermittent issues affecting power, water and sewage systems. At this time we cannot guarantee consistent and safe facility operations. The safety and well- being of our students, staff, community and visiting teams must remain our hoghrst priority . We carefully considered rescheduling, however , there ate no available dates within the current schedule that would allow us to host safely and responsibly . We are looking into the possibility of hosting weekend games. Ee will keep you informed . We recognize the longstanding importance of the Bering Sea Basketball Classic to the Hooper Bay community and to the many schools and athletes who look forward to this tournament every year. We understand the disappointment this cancellation may cause and sincerely appreciate your understanding as we make decisions rooted in safety and responsibility.
